Locum & travel radiation therapists — so the machines keep treating.

A linear accelerator can't run short-staffed. When a therapist is on leave or you've lost one, Radphys places ARRT-registered radiation therapists on-site with your team — matched to your machine and your record-and-verify system — so the schedule stays whole and no patient's treatment slips.

For radiation therapists who want travel & locum work

Radphys brings ARRT-registered radiation therapists flexible travel and locum assignments — in the states you're licensed, on the machines you know — and handles finding the work, credentialing, contracts, housing, and billing so you just treat. A clinician who has run cancer centers stands behind every assignment, not a recruiter chasing a placement fee. You pick where you go, how long, and what you're paid.

Locum & travel radiation therapy — common questions

What is a locum (travel) radiation therapist?

A locum tenens or travel radiation therapist is an ARRT-registered R.T.(T) who covers a radiation oncology department temporarily — during a leave, a vacancy, a training gap, or a volume surge — so the machines keep treating on schedule. When a department runs one or two therapists per linac, a single absence can slow or stop treatment; travel and locum coverage keeps the schedule whole.

How quickly can you place a radiation therapist?

Coverage is matched to a therapist registered as ARRT R.T.(T) and licensed in your state where the state requires it, typically in multi-week assignments and arranged around your schedule. Because the therapist must be credentialed at your facility and trained on your treatment machine and record-and-verify system, we match on registration, state license, and machine platform first so coverage starts cleanly.

What does a locum radiation therapist cover?

Daily treatment delivery on the linear accelerator, patient setup and immobilization, image guidance (kV, CBCT, and MV IGRT), surface guidance where used, CT simulation, and record-and-verify in ARIA or MOSAIQ — the full therapist role for the length of the assignment, working to your department’s protocols and under your physician and physics oversight.

Can a radiation therapist work remotely?

No — radiation therapy is hands-on by definition. The therapist sets the patient up, runs the treatment machine, and performs image guidance in the vault. Radphys places radiation therapists on-site with your team; the remote-friendly roles in radiation oncology are physics review and dosimetry planning, which we also staff.

What machines and systems do your therapists work on?

We match to your platform — Varian (TrueBeam, Halcyon, Ethos) and Elekta linacs, image guidance and surface-guided systems, and the ARIA or MOSAIQ record-and-verify environment your department runs. Matching the therapist to your specific machine and OIS is part of the placement, not an afterthought.

How much does locum radiation therapist coverage cost?

Travel and locum therapist coverage is billed at an hourly or weekly rate for the length of the assignment, with travel and housing billed at cost. It is far less costly than running a machine short-staffed — overtime, delayed starts, and burned-out staff — or than leaving treatment slots unfilled while you recruit.
